Fog, Flood Warning & Wind Watch Issued

A strong cold front sweeping across the country is bringing hazardous driving conditions, flash floods and heavy winds are in the forecast today. The National Weather Service issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for Midland Park for Wednesday into Thursday, with a a Dense Fog warning, Flash Flood warning and High Wind watch.
The dense fog advisory, updated at 9:49am and extended through noon, calls for less than a quarter mile of visibility this morning. If driving, slow down, use your low beam lights and keep extra distance between vehicles.
The flash flood and high wind watch goes into effect at 6pm this evening and extends through the overnight. Strong southerly winds of 20 to 25 mph, with sustained periods up to 40 mph and gusts up to 60 mph have the potential to take down trees, power lines and unsecured outdoor objects. Caution is urged for driving and walking outdoors beginning at 6 pm through early morning Thursday.
A band of heavy showers and thunderstorms will rapidly drop 1 to 2 inches of rain in a short amount of time, bring the potential for flash flooding in the region. The alert notes that areas with poor drainage and small streams will be susceptible to flooding, but main stem rivers should remain in their banks.

Today: Showers, mainly after 3pm. Widespread dense fog, mainly before 1pm. High near 62. South wind 8 to 11 mph, with gusts as high as 37 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
Tonight Showers and possibly a thunderstorm, mainly before 5am, then scattered showers and thunderstorms after 5am. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Patchy fog before midnight. Low around 45. South wind 14 to 18 mph, with gusts as high as 55 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New rainfall amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.
Thursday A slight chance of showers before 10am. Partly sunny, with a temperature falling to around 37 by 5pm. Breezy, with a west wind 17 to 22 mph, with gusts as high as 41 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
Thursday Night Partly cloudy, with a low around 26. West wind 11 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 34 mph.
Friday A slight chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 34. West wind 10 to 18 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
