Police Blotter: Tresspassing, Warrants & Drug Arrests
The following Police Blotter items were submitted to Midland Park Press by the Midland Park Police Department:
On Jan. 19, police arrested a 30-year-old Hawthorne resident on charges of Defiant Trespass. According to the report, the accused received several warnings on different occasions from the manager of a local business that he was not welcome at the establishment. He was arrested by Officers Kenneth Junta and Kevin Van Dyk and released pending an appearance at Midland Park Municipal Court.
On Jan. 31, Office Thomas Bedoe arrested a 24-year-old Midland Park residents on outstanding warrants. According to police, the arrest was the result of a traffic stop, during which warrants were discovered in the amounts of $500, $349, and $89 issued by the Municipal Courts of Ridgewood Midland Park and Paramus respectively. The suspect was transported to police headquarters, where she posted bail and was given a summons for driving with a suspended license. Officer Kenneth Junta assisted in the investigation.
Marijuana & Underage Alcohol Possession
On Feb. 2, police arrested an 18-year-old Ramsey resident following a motor vehicle stop. In speaking with the driver, Officer Michael Canonico detected an odor of marijuana emanating from within the vehicle. After the male signed a “Consent to Search” form patrol discovered a greenish-brown vegetation and a bottle of alcohol in the vehicle. The defendant was transported to headquarters for processing. He was charged with possession of marijuana, under 50 grams, and underage possession of alcohol. He was issued two motor vehicle summonses one for possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle, and the other for tinted windows. The male was released with a pending court date. Officer Steven Vander Pyl assisted in the investigation.
