Police Blotter: Drug Arrest

On Feb. 15, Detective Sgt. John Gibbons arrested a 19-year-old male resident of Wyckoff on charges of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. According to police, the arrest was the result of an investigation of a suspicious incident where an off duty police officer reported seeing usage of a controlled dangerous substance at the rear of a vehicle parked in the lot of a local business.
In speaking with the driver of the vehicle Detective Sgt. Gibbons observed greenish vegetation on his shirt and, an odor of raw marijuana emanating from the interior of the vehicle. The passenger, a 20-year-old male, also a resident of Wyckoff, and the driver were taken to headquarters for processing.
The driver admitted that the drugs in the vehicle belonged to him, and the passenger was released. The driver was processed and charged with possession of marijuana, under 50 grams and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released with a pending court date. Chief Michael Marra, Sgt. Michael Powderley and Officer Kenneth Junta assisted in the investigation.
