Library Announces Spring Children's Events
Spring story time registration will begin on April 1st. Story time will begin the week of April 15 and run until the week of June 4. The schedule is 4- to 6-year-olds on Tuesdays at 10:30am and 2-to 3-year-olds on Thursdays at 10:30am. Those sessions require pre-registration and consists of stories and a craft that will last 30-40 minutes. Please call the Children’s Department (201) 444-2390 or stop in to register.
Baby time for ages 6 to 24 months will begin on Wednesday, April 3 at 10:30 and that does not require any registration. The dates are 4/3, 4/10, 4/17/, 4/24, and 5/1 and will last about 30 minutes. The first half will be filled with stories, music, and rhymes and the rest of the time is reserved for free play with toys and educational games for babies and parents. Older siblings are welcome to attend with parents and babies!
There will be two reading contests this spring; one will be read alone for grades 1-6 and the other read to me for ages 2-6. Participants must register at the Children’s desk starting on April 1 to receive their reading log to track their pages. The club officially kicks off on Friday, April 5, and will run until Friday, June 14. Registration will be accepted until Friday, April 19. Prizes will be awarded to three participants for each contest. Reading logs must be handed in by June 14 in order to be entered into the raffle for a prize.
On Tuesday, April 2nd there will be a movie at 1pm. The movie is Cars (G), no registration is necessary, just drop in! Children under 9 must be accompanied by an adult.
There will be drop-in/take home crafts for all ages on April 10 and 24 anytime from 11:30am-4:30pm. Just drop in and pick up the materials to make the craft either at the library or at home.
On Saturday, April 20, Unusual Creatures, an interactive educational program with an array of live animals will be coming to the Midland Park Library. The program will start at 1pm and will last about one hour. Please stop by the library to register for the program and pick up your tickets. The program is for ages 4-12 and children must be accompanied by a parent.
