Earth Day Poster Contest Open To Kids
● By Anonymous
Midland Park-based landscape design company R&S Landscaping is hosting its annual Earth Day Poster contest for children in grades 1 through 8. First place prize is a pizza party for their entire class. Winners will also have their original artwork displayed at Ridgewood Whole Foods. R&S Landscaping will also post the winning images on R&S Landscaping’s website and Facebook page during the month of May.
The subject of R&S Landscaping's 2013 poster contest is New Jersey Native Plants. New Jersey is home to a diverse group of plant life, mammals, and insects. All of them rely on the local plant life for food and/or shelter. If the plants they rely on are pushed out or unable to grow, there will be a decline in diversity among local wildlife that will negatively affect the local ecosystem.
The poster contest is open to Bergen County grade school students from the first through eighth grades. All posters must be submitted to Ridgewood Whole Foods or R&S Landscaping by Tuesday, April 30 with a completed entry form. Entry forms can be obtained at www.rscape.com/contest.html
Artwork should be between 8.5x11 inches and 11x17 inches in size and may be drawn or painted with pencil, crayon, marker, paint, or pastel. Artwork must be drawn on a flat surface. For more information about R&S Landscaping and extra tips staying “green” visit www.rscape.com.
