2013-14 School Calendar Revised
● By Anonymous
The Board of Education voted to revise the 2013-14 school calendar at Tuesday night's meeting, moving the first day of school so as to not conflict with Rosh Hashana. The revised calendar changes the first day of school to Friday, Sept. 6 and switches spring recess to April 14 to 18, or which is the week before Easter.
The previous calendar, which was approved on March 19, had schools opening on Thursday, Sept. 5, which is also Rosh Hashana. Several other districts in the area also changed their first day of school for this reason. The district made up the day by moving spring recess from the week after Easter plus Good Friday off, to the week before Easter.
District officials noted that the calendar will be discussed in more detail at the next Board of Education meeting on May 28.
