Winning Softball Coach Steps Down

Ali Bryan, the Varsity Softball coach who brought back-to-back Patriot League titles to Midland Park, announced her resignation on Tuesday. According to Athletic Director Pete Galasso, the part-time coach felt she needed to step down to focus on her career. Bryan works for the Fair Lawn School District as a teacher at Thomas Jefferson Middle School.
"Due to the new teacher evaluation system, she felt she needed to concentrate on her career and on getting tenure," Galasso said. "It's a tremendous loss."
Bryan, an MPHS graduate, led the 12-member Lady Panthers on an amazing ride this spring, finishing up the season 25-3, with half the team making First Team All League. The team, dubbed the Dirty Dozen, also made it to the elite 8 in both the state and county tournaments.
Galasso, who has known about Bryan's decision for a while, said she sent an official email to all the teachers on Tuesday evening. The district will be posting the softball coach position in and out of district as the season gets closer.
