By Rebecca K. Abma
It's time to get those skeletons out of the closets! After back-to-back years of Halloweens gone bust, the Midland Park Recreation Department is launching a new holiday tradition designed to get everyone in the "spirit:" The first annual Halloween Home decorating contest.
Break out the cauldrons and caskets! Skeletons, spiderwebs and spooky music! Residents who wish to enter the competition should fill out the registration form, a PDF of which is attached to this article, and return it to the Rec Dept. by Oct. 23. Homes will be judged between Oct. 27 and 29.
Prizes will be awarded to the winners of the following categories:
- BEST THEME: Entries will be judged on overall Halloween themes.
- ORIGINALITY: Entries will be judged on “eerie” originality.
- JUDGES’ FAVORITE: This category is decided by judges.
The only rules are do not cover/interfere with any fire safety equipment or walkways and keep everything PG-13!
