Marching Band Presents 'Revitalized' Program at Music In The Park
● By Rebecca K. Abma
The 16th Annual “Music in the Park” Marching Band Expo, featuring at dozen-plus marching bands from around the region, is Saturday, Oct. 13. Hosted by the Midland Park High School Marching Band the event will be held at Ramapo Regional High School football field in Franklin Lakes.
The MPHS Marching Band will present their 2013 show, “Revitalized: The Music of Break of Reality.” The routine examines the process of healing after a time of pain in three movements: disbelief, anger and resolution or “Anodynia,” the absence of pain where pain once was, the title of the musical composition. The music was co-composed by 2003 MPHS graduate Patrick Laird, a founding member of the cello rock band Break of Reality.
The program is getting attention. Last week, the routine took first place in Randolph for Best Guard, Best Music and Best Percussion, and the band has not placed less than second all season.
In addition to high school marching bands from Elmwood Park, Hawthorne, Hackensack, Indian Hills, Lakeland Regional, Paramus, Ramapo, Waldwick, and Wayne Hills, Sunday's event will also include performances from Rutgers University Marching Band the “Scarlet Knights” and the Latin Express.
Gates open at 12:30pm with the Midland Park Highland School Band performing our National Anthem at 1pm. Admission is $10 for adults; $5 for Midland Park residents, senior citizens and students. Come out and support the performing arts in our schools.Music In The Park - start: 10/13/2013 - 01:00 PM
