Education Hall of Fame Nominees Sought

The Midland Park Board of Education is seeking nominations to the Education Hall of Fame.   The Education Hall of Fame is open to all former Midland Park employees who have been retired at least three full years and made significant contributions to the improvement of the Midland Park school system over at least a five-year period of employment. 

A nomination requires at least two separate endorsement letters per candidate.  Nominations must be submitted to the Office of the Superintendent of Schools, 250 Prospect Street, Midland Park, NJ 07432 by February 2, 2014. 

The winners will be announced at a Board of Education meeting in April and their pictures will be placed in the “Hallway of Fame” at the high school.

The Midland Park Board of Education established the Education Hall of Fame in December of 2008, with the first inductees announced in the Spring of 2009. The following former educators have been honored in the Hall of Fame: 
  • Jack Cogger, HS Chemistry & Physics teacher (2009)
  • Gerard Thomas, HS Physical Education, Drivers Ed teacher & Guidance Counselor (2009)
  • Adolph “Sonny” Santorine, first HS Athletic Director and Coach (2010)
  • Gordon MacDonald, Elementary School Instrumental Music teacher (2011)
  • Donald Nolan, HS Guidance Counselor & co-announcer for home football & basketball games (2012)
  • Terrence Sawey, HS Social Studies teacher & co-announcer for home football & basketball games (2012)
  • William Brady, District Speech Therapist (2013)
  • Florence Mahon, HS Math teacher & Head of Math/Science Departments (2013)
