Winter Storm Warning: Hercules

The National Weather Service warns against frostbite and hypothermia in a Special Weather Statement:
"The combination of temperatures ranging from the single digits to 15 degrees with northwest winds of 15 to 20 MPH and gusts of 30 to 35 MPH will result in wind chill values ranging from 0 to -10 with wind chills below zero could lead to frostbite or hypothermia for anyone exposed to the cold."
NWS Official snowfall totals for Bergen County range from a high of 9 inches in Paramus to a low of 3.5 inches in Washington Township, according to the Upton, NY office.
Please remember to dig out the fire hydrants in your neighborhood. The home you save could be your own.
State law requires you to remove all snow from your vehicle before driving.

All after school activities have been cancelled.
Tonight's council reorganization meeting has been postponed. The reschedule date is Jan. 9 at 8pm at the Fire House on Witte Drive.
Recycling pick-up has been rescheduled for Saturday morning. Place paper and cardboard out for collection after 6pm on Friday.
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for the area from 6pm Thursday through 1pm Friday. The storm, named Hercules by the Weather Channel, is expected to blanket Midland Park in 4 to 8 inches of snow, and bring wind gusts of up to 35 MPH.
Temperatures are expected to drop from the lower 30s into the teens on Thursday, with Friday’s wind chill temperatures dropping as low as -15F in higher elevations.
Light snow is forecasted on and off during the day on Thursday, with possible periods of light freezing rain or drizzle, and transition to a steady, wind-driven heavy snowfall in the evening and into Friday morning. Dangerous travel conditions are likely and residents are urged to travel only in an emergency.
