A New Jersey Transit bus slid backward down a hill and crashed into the Paterson warehouse of Midland Park-based Barefoot Carpet and Flooring this morning.

According to a report by ABC News, the accident occurred around 7am on 4th Avenue and East 26th Street. The 704 line bus was at the end of its route and empty, except for the driver who reportedly sustained minor injuries.

Barefoot Carpet owner Tom Faber told Midland Park Press that he received a call this morning while traveling home from vacation with his family. He was told that the crash set off the fire alarm and sprinkler system, and the extent of the damage to his stock is unknown.

Faber rents the warehouse space from Needlecraft Inc. and the bus crashed into his side of the building. The buildings department will evaluate the structural integrity of the building, WABC reported.

"No one is allowed in the building yet, so I'm not sure what I'm coming home to," he said.

Barefoot Carpet & Flooring offers shop-at-home service for carpet, hardwood, laminate and vinyl flooring.
