The Midland Park community is coming together to help the victims of the New Year's Day fire in a multi-unit apartment building. Seven people — four women and three men — were displaced by the fire and lost all of their possessions.

Donations of gently used, seasonally appropriate clothing can be dropped off at the DePhillips Center. Not all of the sizes are known. One man wears a size medium or large, one woman wears a medium and another woman wears a size large. At this time, only clothing is being collected. Once the families acquire housing, donations household goods and furniture may be accepted.

Monetary donations for the victims can be made through the Midland Park Church of God, 400 Godwin Ave. (on the corner of Chestnut Avenue, across from the water company property). Please note on the donation that it is for the New Year's Day Fire Victims. Donations can be left in the mailbox on the church porch or inside at the church office. All of the funds collected will go to help the victims with relocation and other costs of rebuilding their lives.

In addition, Bill's Shoe Repair, 654 Godwin Ave., is donating $3 from every can of water and stain protector sold through Feb. 28 to the residents of the house fire.

Housing is also sought by the four families. If anyone has information regarding available apartments in Midland Park or the surrounding area, preferably pet friendly, please email Rebecca@mpkpress.com.
