Girls Basketball Update: 4-0 Record

01/07/2014 08:54AM ● By Rebecca K. Abma
After a snowy week in which the Lady Panthers practiced once since last Saturday, the team traveled to Cresskill on Saturday to beat the Cougars 47 to 28.

As expected both teams started out very rusty, including the heating system in Cresskill's Gym which was not working. The Lady Panthers received an outstanding game from Nicole Cartaino who scored 22 Points. Rebecca Rabeiro pitched in with 10 points while Thalia Ghalam connected for 9 points.

Midland Park jumped out to a 15-4 first quarter lead thanks to a suffocating full court press and cold shooting by the Cougars.  At the intermission, the Lady Panthers built up a 14 point lead 24-10 and would never look back. With the win the Lady Panthers, who are ranked #9 in the North Jersey Girls Basketball Poll, improved to 4-0 overall and 1-0 in the Patriot Division.

The Lady Panthers will be in action this week at home on Tuesday at 4pm hosting Bogota. On Thursday the Panthers will travel to meet Palisades Park at 5:30PM.  Please come out and show your support for the girls.

Varsity Aces posted a glowing write up of the team as well. The article is available here.
