Police Blotter: Shoplifting Arrests, Burglary Investigation, DWI & Drug Paraphernalia

The following items were submitted by the Midland Park Police Department:
On Jan. 14, at the conclusion of an investigation into a
burglary that was reported on Jan. 13, the son of one of the victims was charged
with Defiant Trespass. Det. Sgt. John
Gibbons issued a summons to the 22-year-old male resident of Paterson. He was released with a pending date to appear
in the Midland Park Municipal Court.
On Jan. 16, a 25-year-old male resident of Westwood was arrested for driving while intoxicated after Officer Kenneth Junta stopped the defendant for erratic driving. Following field sobriety tests the male was transported to headquarters for processing. He was issued summonses for careless driving; failure to stop at a flashing red light; driving while intoxicated and driving while intoxicated within 1,000 feet of a school. He was released with a pending court date. Sgt. Gregory Kasbarian assisted in the investigation.
On Jan. 17, Officer Mark Berninger took a report from a Midland Park resident who stated she received a fraudulent email which claimed to be from PSE&G. The email showed balances and instructions to register online in order to view the statement. She did not view the statement because she heard there was a scam going on through emails
On Jan. 18, a 48-year-old female resident of Wyckoff was arrested for shoplifting at a local business. The items taken were soup, protein bars and peanut butter containers, which amounted to $27. 96. She was transported to headquarters, charged with shoplifting and released with a pending court date. The incident was referred to the Detective Bureau. Sgt. Noah Van Vliet, Officers Thomas Bedoe and Steven Vander Pyl assisted.
On Jan. 18, as the result of a traffic stop, a 24-year-old male resident of Cranford was arrested on an outstanding warrant. The warrant in the amount of $120 emanated out of the Union Township Municipal Court. The male was transported to headquarters where arrangements were made to satisfy the warrant. Officers Vander Pyl and Bedoe investigated.
On Jan. 19, Officer Jason Tillson arrested a 29-year-old male resident of Wayne on an outstanding warrant out of the Wayne Municipal Court. The male was transported to headquarters where the warrant, in the amount of $81 was satisfied. Officers Christopher Birch and Matthew Lombardo assisted.
On Jan. 21 at 2:06 p.m., the manager of a local business reported to Det. Sgt. Gibbons a shoplifting occurred at 7:45 a.m. The male actor shoplifted 13 cans of Enfamil Formula valued at $340. The case is under investigation.
On Jan. 23, as the result of a motor vehicle stop, a 17-year-old Waldwick juvenile male was detained for possession of drug paraphernalia. The subject was released into the custody of his mother. The case has been forwarded to Bergen County Family Court. Officers Junta and Berninger investigated.
