Girls Basketball Update: 12-2

On Tuesday, Jan. 28, the Lady Panthers ranked 6 in North Jersey hosted Saddle River Day ranked 10th in North Jersey in a battle of league unbeaten. In a highly contested game which saw both teams leading throughout the Panthers fell short to Saddle River Day 62-58. Midland Park led after the 1st and 3rd quarter but was outscored in the 4th quarter 18-13. 

Rebecca Rabeiro scored 23 points despite sitting most of the 2nd quarter in foul trouble.  Center Nicole Cartaino added 18 points and Thalia Ghalam scored 11 in a losing cause.
 
On Thursday, Jan. 30, the Lady Panther traveled to rival Waldwick. The Panthers left no doubt in this game racing out to a 25-1 lead after 1 and 40-13 halftime lead while coasting to a 60-32 victory.  Rebecca Rabeiro led all scorers with 22 points while Julie Carey scored 13 points and Nicole Cartaino pitched in 9 points.  With the win the Panthers remain 1 game behind Saddle River Day in the league.
 
On Saturday, Feb. 1 the Lady Panthers traveled to Ridgefield Park to face Westwood in the 2nd round of the Bergen County Girls Tournament. The Lady Panthers had no answer for a hot Westwood team and were handed their 2nd loss of the season 61-54. 

The Panthers were led by Nicole Cartaino and Rebecca Rabeiro who both tallied 17 points. Amanda Parker and Thalia Ghalam added 8 points each in a losing cause.
 
This week the Lady Panthers are in action Tuesday home against Cresskill at 4PM and Thursday @ Bogota at 5:30PM.
