Sink Hole Causes South Rea Ave Closure

02/21/2014 09:38AM ● By Rebecca K. Abma
South Rea Avenue will be closed Friday due to repair of a six- to eight-inch sink hole. The hole, caused by the collapse of an aging corrugated pipe, was discovered on Wednesday. The repair is expected to take 1 to 2 days.

The Borough Council awarded the repair contract to Colonnelli Brothers of Hackensack at its Feb. 20 meeting as an emergency appropriation.

Officials noted the side street is not heavily traveled and the repair should not cause much disruption of traffic. The hole, they noted, is much smaller than the one on Erie Avenue last year.
